Short-Run Digital Book Production Specialist Now Offers Design Services
Publishers of all sizes are invited to visit JEM
Services for Publishers at the London Book Fair on 5th-7th March (stand
J650) to find out how their short-run digital book production services
can be tailored to meet their specific needs for on-demand, advance
or proof copy books.
On-demand digital book production is a hot topic
and printers from all over the UK are endeavoring to acquire a piece
of the action. JEM Services for Publishers is one of the few specialist
short-run digital book printers that cater to all sizes of companies
within the publishing industry, from the very large to the very small.
JEM’s one-stop-shop service provides an easy, low cost route
to market for self-publishers and offers larger publishers the ability
to produce high-quality proof and advance copy books for market research
and review.
With the cost of digitally printing a book starting
from under just two pounds, JEM has a wide variety of publishers,
charities and personal individuals who all regularly use JEM’s
services.
An example of a publication which has been made
possible through JEM Services for Publishers includes the Times Trust
Young Hearts book of poetry. This book, written by children with ME,
is used in some schools to teach children about the importance of
understanding this disease. The book is supported by Terry Waite,
who wrote the forward based on the suffering experienced by children
with this disease, and is now available in a selection of national
school libraries. Without JEM’s short-run digital printing capability,
these children may not have been able to express themselves through
this beautiful and informative work. Another example of the fast growing
use of digital printing is by publisher Dilute To Taste who produces
books on Medway and Kent’s poetry and history and utilises JEM’s
digital printing capabilities to allow their local authors and poets
the opportunity to see their books in print despite being too specialist
in their subject matter to warrant long litho print runs.
JEM offers a fully integrated, end to end service.
JEM’s pre-print services include proofing, typesetting and cover
design to enable smaller and self publishers to achieve a professional
product. Once ready for print JEM will print and bind in house, with
a turnaround time of 5-7 working days, often faster, by negotiation,
if possible. Following the design, print and binding, publishers can
use BookFile, JEM’s shared mailing service to libraries and
library suppliers or Schoolbag, JEM’s shared mailing service
to primary and secondary schools, to promote their books direct to
key buying groups. Through their group 50-seat customer contact centre,
JEM can handle the responses resulting from publishers promotional
marketing campaigns as well as providing storage and fulfilment facilities
to manage distribution of products or literature.
